We're building toward a reptile shop: captive-bred animals, feeders, and the supplies we actually use. Until then, here's how we keep ours.
Ball pythons
A small VPI Axanthic Clown program: black-and-white ball pythons that stay that way. DNA panels on every adult as their first sheds come in, and a written record behind every animal. First hatchlings expected summer 2027.

The Menagerie
A small, tested group. Ball pythons today; more species as the shop grows.
Each adult gets a DNA panel on its first shed with us (the first sheds are being collected now), and we confirm every het by panel or by offspring before we sell on it. Photos on the cards are the breeders' listing photos until our own arrival photos replace them.

Our projects
One line, done properly.
Most collections are a little of everything. Ours is one thing on purpose.
The VPI Axanthic Clown is a ball python with two recessive genes stacked: Axanthic strips out the yellow and brown, Clown rebuilds the pattern into bold saddles and a clean, pale back. Together they make a silver-and-charcoal snake that keeps its contrast as an adult, where many axanthics fade to brown. "VPI" names the Axanthic line we use, and we use only that one, so a het from us is a VPI het and nothing else.
Our adults are a mix of visual Axanthic Clowns and animals carrying one or both genes as hets, with Pastel, Pinstripe, Butter, Enchi and Fire layered on for color. Every breeder gets a DNA panel on its first shed here, and we confirm every het by panel or by offspring before we sell on it. What hatches gets weighed, fed, logged, and sold with that record attached.
Husbandry
Boring on purpose.
Adults live in HDPE enclosures on thermostat-controlled belly heat, with Govee temperature and humidity sensors logging the room and the enclosures we're filling first. The room itself is kept warm, so no heat tape has to run hot to make up for a cold room. Temperatures get checked daily with a temp gun, and every reading that matters gets written down.
We keep records on everything, and we'll show them to you. Every animal has its own record in Husbandry Pro, the reptile record-keeping app we use, where each weight goes in the day it's taken. If you want to know what a snake weighed in March, we can tell you.

What we actually use.
This is the equipment running in our snake room, plus a few things we'd point a new keeper to instead. Each one has a line on why it's here. Nothing on this page pays to be listed, and there are no prices because they change; the links go to the maker or a store that carries it.

Enclosures and racks
Adults live in HDPE cabinets with heat tape in the floor; the youngsters live in tubs. HDPE holds humidity on its own and is easy to disinfect.

Our adult housing. Each 72-inch cabinet is split into two 36 × 30 compartments, with heat tape in the floor channel and the thermostat probe taped on the hot spot.
Next Level subadult / breeder tub rack
FB70 tubs on belly heat for overflow adults and quarantine. Built to the number of levels you want.
ARS 1039-Hybrid hatchling rack
Thirty-nine hatchling tubs on thirteen levels, so every baby gets its own tub, its own log line and its own feeding record from day one.
If you need one enclosure, not a rack: a 4 × 2 × 2 PVC
For a single adult ball python, a solid PVC 4 × 2 × 2 holds heat and humidity well. Reptile Kages and Toad Ranch are the two PVC makers we'd buy from. Pick PVC, not wood or glass with a screen top.

Heat and control
Nothing that makes heat is ever plugged straight into the wall. Every heat source runs through a thermostat with a probe and high/low alarms.

Six outputs, each with its own probe. Ours run the heat tape in dimming mode at 89 °F with alarms at 95 and 74, and it emails us if anything drifts or a probe fails.

The heat in our racks and cabinets. Only ever on a thermostat, with the probe on the tape's hot spot, and connections checked monthly.

Overhead heat with no visible light, for glass tanks with screen tops. On a dimming thermostat, never on a plain switch.

Monitoring
The thermostat reads one spot. These tell us what the snake actually feels, and we check them daily.
Govee H5075 thermometer-hygrometer
One in every enclosure, logging temperature and humidity to a phone. Cheap enough to never share a sensor.
Etekcity Lasergrip 774 temp gun
Weekly check of every warm spot against the thermostat's probe. More than 2 °F apart means the probe gets re-seated.
Girafit indoor camera
Lets us watch a new arrival settle in, or a female during the season, without opening the door.

Hides, bowls and substrate
Three snug hides per adult enclosure: warm end, cool end and middle. A heavy bowl that can't tip, scrubbed weekly.
Fluker's reptile hide box
Our standard hide: dark, snug, one entrance, wipes clean. Sized so the snake touches the walls when it's coiled inside.
PetRageous ceramic bowl, 3.5 cups
Heavy ceramic, so a big female can't flip it. Scrubbed and dipped in F10 every week.
Zilla Rock Lair
A humid hide with damp sphagnum inside for young snakes and anyone going into shed.
ReptiChip coconut chip, 72-qt block
Holds humidity without staying soggy. One block covers a lot of rack.
Zoo Med Forest Floor cypress mulch
Two to three inches deep, damp underneath and dry on top. Our other everyday substrate.
Zoo Med New Zealand sphagnum moss
Damp moss in the humid hide during sheds. A small bag lasts a long time.

Handling, feeding and hygiene
Frozen/thawed only, fed with long hemostats, everyone weighed on a schedule, and every tool disinfected between animals.
Snake hook
Taps the snake out of feeding mode before a hand goes in, and lifts big females without grabbing.
Long hemostats
Eighteen inches or more keeps fingers out of range when an adult takes a large rat.
Vivarium Electronics DS 6000 scale
Gram scale that reads past 6 kg with a tare button. Weights are the first early warning, so everyone gets weighed on a schedule.
F10SC veterinary disinfectant
What every enclosure, tub, bowl and tool gets cleaned with between animals. A small bottle of concentrate goes a long way.
Frozen rats
Frozen/thawed, sized to each snake, on a logged schedule. We have no deal with any rodent supplier; these are just who we buy from.

Breeding and eggs
What we'll use for our first season.
Wilbanks WH-80 incubator
Holds steady temperature for a full ball python clutch season; the standard choice among ball python breeders. Our eggs go into heat-and-cool lab incubators instead.
HatchRite incubation medium
Pre-moistened, so there's no guessing the water ratio. Eggs sit half-buried in a sealed box.
Egg hatching box
Clear, sealed and sized for one clutch, so you can check eggs without disturbing them.
Portable ultrasound with a linear probe
Shows follicle growth and ovulation, so breeding-season decisions are based on what's actually happening inside the female, not on the calendar. Buy used from a medical reseller that offers returns, and check the probe before the return window closes.

Plain terms, written down before you pay.
Payment
MorphMarket checkout or PayPal Goods & Services only; we don't take Friends & Family, Zelle or Cash App for animals. Payment plans on animals over $500: 25% down, balance within 60 days, deposit non-refundable. Waitlist deposits are different: refunded in full if the animal you reserved isn't produced. Holds last 7 days without a deposit.
Shipping
FedEx Priority Overnight, Monday to Wednesday, hub to hub, insulated box with a heat or cold pack as the weather needs. We hold shipments when either end is below 35 °F or above 90 °F, and tell you first. Shipping quoted per order.
Live arrival
Guaranteed when you collect from the hub within two hours of arrival and message us within that window with photos or video of the unopened box and the animal. We replace or refund.
Health
Every animal ships eating frozen/thawed, shed, and visually clear, with hatch date, weights and feeding log. If a licensed reptile vet documents a congenital or pre-existing condition within seven days, we refund or replace with the vet report. Husbandry problems after arrival aren't covered.
Genetics and sex
Stated as tested or as proven by offspring; anything else is labeled possible het. Sex by probe or pop; if we got it wrong, tell us within 30 days and we make it right. No returns on live animals otherwise.
Before you buy
Quarantine your new snake 60–90 days away from other reptiles and leave it alone for a week before the first meal. United States only, where legal; you confirm your local rules. No sales under 18.
